The buffer tank used in the oil field is also known as the horizontal separator buffer tank, which belongs to the separation container, which has a larger processing capacity than other types of separation containers of the same specification, and is widely used in pressurization points, transfer stations, combined stations and centralized processing stations, playing the role of oil and gas separation, storage and buffer balance in the process of oil and gas gathering and transportation.

The buffer tank is divided into horizontal or vertical, generally composed of the main container, fog catcher, buffer plate, foaming net, gas rectifier and other components.

(1) Buffer tank relief valve release

The main reasons are: ① the buffer tank pressure exceeds the setting pressure of the safety valve; ② The amount of liquid is too large, so that the safety valve is opened

Disposal measures: ① stop operation, deal with it immediately according to the operating procedures: ② Open the bypass valve, close the inlet and outlet valves for processing.

(2) The buffer tank high and low liquid level are not alarming

The main reasons: ① float stuck or broken leakage; ② Electrical contact is not closed, alarm device failure or wiring failure

Disposal measures: ① stop operation, repair and replace float; ② Handle the fault of the high and low level alarm device

(3) During the oil transfer process of the buffer tank, the tank pressure drops beyond the limit.

The main reasons are: ① the buffer tank vent valve is opened too large; There is not enough liquid level in the tank; ③ There is a leak in the pipeline or container.

Disposal measures: ① Close the buffer tank vent valve; ② Stop oil transmission; ③ Check and repair leakage points.

(4) Slow discharge of liquid in the buffer tank.

Main reasons: ① outlet valve open too small; There is not enough pressure in the tank; (3) There are more deposits at the bottom of the tank; ④ the pump is not up

Disposal measures: ① Open the buffer tank oil outlet valve; ② Stop oil transmission; ③ Regular discharge; Shut down the cleaning tank; ④ Check and deal with it immediately according to the operation rules of the oil pump.

(5) The buffer tank gas outlet pipeline is frozen.

The main reasons are as follows: ① the condensate of the buffer tank gas pipeline is frozen; ② Long-term shutdown without purging gas pipeline.

Disposal measures: ① shutdown, gas pipeline blockage; ② In accordance with the buffer tank shutdown operation procedures.

(6) Buffer tank oil temperature drop fast.

The main reasons are: ① the heating coil inside the buffer tank is corroded and broken; ② Less circulating hot water in the heating pipeline.

Disposal measures: ① shutdown, maintenance heating coil; ② Check whether the heating process circulation is smooth and increase the heat load.
